Ahead of 2023 general elections, the race as to who leads the Akwa Ibom PDP in the governorship seat is no longer unpredictable as political stakeholders have already made up their mind on who their preferred candidates would be, and some of them have already queued behind their preferred choice.
The latest is the rumor making the round that Sen. Effiong Bob, the political leader of Nsit Ubium has allegedly kicked against the perceived candidacy of Mr. Udom Inoyo and has mandated his son whom he sponsored to represent the people of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Otobong Effiong Bob as well as the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Arch Ime Ekpo to coordinate supports for the member representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Obong Bassey Albert (OBA).
Our source hinted that Ime Ekpo has concluded plans to form a socio-political group for OBA, he allegedly met with the coordinators of the said socio-political group last Saturday in his resident at Four lanes in Uyo.
The Vice Chairman of Exxon Mobil, Mr. Udom Inoyo is seen to be interested in the race and has garnered the needed support from some stakeholders of the party. But Inoyo’s ambition is treated with reservations by many Akwa Ibom people because the people are of the opinion that he (Inoyo) is on a mission to suppress the existence of some PDP members who made personal sacrifices to sustain the Party.
Our source holds that the reason for Effiong Bob’s decision to support for OBA as Governor come 2023 is hinged on the fact that he (OBA) has been in the political scene and has garnered the needed experience and capacity to govern Akwa Ibom State, while Udom Inoyo has never tasted politics, hence, would be found wanting in taking Akwa Ibom State to the desired destination politically.
All efforts to ascertain the true position of the parties involved, proved abortive as calls sent to their phones were not attended to.
