The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt. HON. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR has called on the 2019 Batch C stream 1 Corp members to exhibit the trait of discipline and obedience to camp rules during the orientation course.
The Governor gave the advise on Thursday at the swearing in ceremony of the batch of Corps Members deployed to the state.
The Governor who was represented by his Senior Special Adviser on youth development Alh. Ibrahim Khalil Aminu said that the NYSC has over the years inculcated in the Nigerian youths the spirit of positive citizenship and leadership values including the ideals of committed service which includes constructive engagement, patriotism, diligence, harmony, equity and justice.
Governor Masari urges the Corps Members to prepare themselves physically and mentally for a successful service year by actively participating in all camp activities.
“My dear compatriots, by fully and actively participating in all activities here in the Orientation Camp, you will be preparing yourselves to take up higher responsibilities in the future.
I therefore urge all of you to take the orientation Course seriously, stay disciplined and focused during the exercise He added
Earlier in his introductory speech, the State Coordinator NYSC, Katsina State, Alh. Ahidjo Yahaya congratulated the Corps Members for successfully concluding their various academic qualifications.
He disclosed that the Corps Members during the Orientation course will be exposed to both physical and mental training and the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
Alh. Ahidjo disclosed that the NYSC has over the years made giant strides through the activities of Corps Members in key factors of the Nigeria economy ranging from health, education, infrastructure and agriculture to mention but a few.
Furthermore, he disclosed that a total of 1938 Corps Members who were duly registered at the cutoff date will be sworn in
“The scheme has achieved great feats and it is still doing so through the activities of the Corps Members… ” He said.
The State Coordinator commended the Katsina State Government for supporting the NYSC Scheme always in its functions and programmes.
The NYSC cultural dance troupe and the Man ‘O’ War tug of war added colours to the event.
