ASUU threatens to sanction institutions
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has recencently stated that they would sanction any of its members who for any reason have withdrawn from the ongoing industrial action it started on 14th February 2022, while negotiations with the Federal Government is still on going.
The union President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, stated this during an interview on Monday, June 13, in Abuja. He said that the union will not fail to punish those who have decided to pulled out of the ongoing strike the appropriate way.
He stated nothing specific about the last meeting, which took place in the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“We haven’t been called for another meeting since then, and the government hasn’t offered us anything; all they’ve asked us to do is meet with the committee,” he said.
He also stated that the union and the government will meet within the week.
